Shotokan’s Little Warriors - This program is designed to incorporate active play with karate skills in a way that aids toddlers and preschoolers in the development of physical, cognitive, and social skills including spatial awareness, balance, following directions, and working well with others in a non-competitive environment that encourages discipline, confidence, respect, focus, and fun. Instructor Sarah Hill has many years of experience working with young children in multiple learning environments and applications and is passionate about helping to develop these young karateka.

Shotokan Little Warrior's class will be led by Instructor Sarah Hill
Beginner (1x per week) - Beginner classes are designed for individuals who are ready to progress to the next step. Students will learn a basic grasps, punches, stances and kicks. A minimum number of classes are required to test and obtain belt. Students are required to wear traditional karate uniform to all training sessions. Testing fee is required for materials and test administration.

(Participants will receive free uniform upon enrollment with the agreement to commit three (3) consecutive months to the program. If participant cancels membership before the three-month mark, they will be charged full price for the uniform).

Intermediate/Advance (3x per week) - Intermediate/Advance classes are tailored for those looking to push themselves to higher levels of Karate competition while maintaining Karate’s traditional roots. A minimum number of classes are required to test and obtain belt. Students will learn different variations of grasps, punches, stances and kicks. This class will build on basics taught in Beginner classes. Students are required to wear traditional karate uniform to all training sessions. Testing fee is required for materials and test administration.
Day/Time: Tuesday/5:30-6:15PM, Thursday/5:30-6:15PM & Saturday/11:00-11:45AM

Shotokan Testing and Evaluation - A minimum number of classes are required to test and obtain belt. Testing fee is required for materials and test administration.
- Testing will usually occur the last Saturday of every month.
- You must attend a minimum number of trainings in order to be eligible to test.
- All students will receive a stamp for each full class attended.
- All students recieving a red stamp before a test date will be eligible to test:
*10 classes for beginner(under full orange) students
*15 classes for full orange and full blue
*20 classes for full green and above
- In addition, all class and testing fees must be current before students be allowed to test.

About the Instructors:
Sensei Kevin Funakoshi is a certified Hachi Dan (8th Dan) under Black Belt Hall of Fame inductee and founder of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association (FSKA) Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi (cousin to the founder of Shotokan Karate, Gichin Funakoshi also known as the “Father of Modern Karate”).
Sensei Kevin Funakoshi started training in 1966 under Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi at the original Hawaii JKA dojo in Honolulu, Hawaii. Following the Funakoshi legacy as a Kumite and Kata Champion at the highest level of competition Sensei Kevin Funakoshi is now dedicated to bring out the maximum potential from the current generation of Karate students.
Youth Instructor Sarah Hill is a Shodan (1st Dan) black belt in Shotokan karate. Hill began her martial arts journey in 1998 training in Tang Soo Do. Hill has also trained and taught American Karate and is currently training in American Bojutsu, as well as continuing her Shotokan training. Hill is an NASM-Certified Personal Trainer and Youth Exercise Specialist. She has a passion for fitness and martial arts and sharing her knowledge in those areas with others.
