Course Descriptions

Potential UNLOCKED: Become a Roblox Developer

In Potential UNLOCKED: Become a Roblox Developer, campers learn the basics of game building and creative development in Roblox an exciting, user-generated online gaming platform similar to Minecraft®. Campers will use Roblox to create much more than just a game! Open to all levels of experience, this camp will teach campers how to plan, design and build their own 3D world. Potential UNLOCKED: Become a Roblox Developer is a hands-on, fully guided experience led by our awesome team of Instructors.

Making the Mod: Designing Modifications with Minecraft®

During the Designing Modifications with Minecraft® camp, ninjas will master Minecraft® by making their own modifications. Using block-based coding, ninjas will learn procedures, conditionals, and variables. They will create 2D and 3D textures for use in their Minecraft® world along with their very own custom content, including weapons, armor and even enemies!

Hackers Wanted: Uncover the Code in Roblox

Participants familiar with Roblox will take their Roblox skills to the next level with Hackers Wanted: Uncover the Code in Roblox. Campers learn fundamentals of scripting (coding) and dig into the game making side of Roblox to move from being a player to becoming a developer. Using the Lua programming language, kids will create their own timed, sudden-death Roblox game along with an interactive obstacle course game. At the end of camp, campers will showcase their game, play their peers’ games, and then publish their creation to the Roblox world.

Set the Scene: Storytelling and Moviemaking in Minecraft®

In this camp, ninjas will gain an understanding of the digital modeling processes and storytelling as they build scenes in Minecraft® and produce stories in their digital world. Participants will also be introduced to video recording, editing and mixing audio as they produce their final stories as short movies. Using Minecraft® as a creative medium, campers will have fun expressing themselves and sharing their stories with friends.

MakeCode Arcade with Meowbit

During the MakeCode Arcade with Meowbit camp, ninjas will learn how to code video games and bring them to life on a handheld gaming device. Campers will learn the power of coding with either MakeCode (a visual block-based coding environment) or JavaScript to create their own retro video games and see their games come to life in the physical world on the Meowbit!

Stop Motion Animation

By experimenting with video production through a variety of mediums including Claymation, LEGO® Minifigures, pipe cleaner creatures and much more, campers will capture images frame-by-frame and produce videos in a rapid prototyping style during the Stop Motion Animation camp!

Pokémon Master Engineering using LEGO® Materials

Start your training in Pallet Town and expand your Pokédex as you collect your favorite Pokémon with LEGO® materials. Surf with Blastoise, challenge Team Rocket, and earn badges from gym leaders on your way to the Pokémon League. Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas while learning about STEM concepts.

Jedi Master Engineering using LEGO® Materials

The Force is strong in this advanced engineering course for young Jedi! Use the force and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts to raise your X-Wing from the Dagobah swamp, challenge the AT-AT walkers on Hoth, and fly the Millennium Falcon through the Kessel Run. Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while you explore a galaxy, far, far away.

Minecraft Master Engineering using LEGO® Materials

Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO® parts! Build an Iron Golem, the Nether Portal, and the Ender Dragon. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects.
