Starport Rec Camp

REC Camp June 5 - August 18 7:30am - 5:30pm

NASA Starport Campers should get  ready for a fun filled, adventurous summer! NASA Starport Camps are designed to offer activities mostly focused on indoor/outdoor games, sports, water activities and arts & crafts while incorporating fun weekly themes. Please note that each week will have a different theme. The theme will in no way be the only focus of the camp activities, but is instead meant as a general direction of some different break-away activities for the week. Price: $160 per week, Sibling $145 per week. $10 per week discount for all JSC Employee (civil servants and contractors).  10% discount for full summer enrollment. 

         

Specialty Camps

NASA: A Journey Into Outer Space June 12 - June 19  9am - noon

From our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program sends children on a quest for exploration! Comets, planets, stars and more are all waiting to be discovered. Learn about the four forces of flight, the challenges of space travel, and explore the science involved in rocket construction as you build your own Skyblazer II Rocket™! Travel to the end of the rainbow and make a sunset, use your Bead Dipper™ to create a 3-dimensional glow-in-the-dark constellation, see comets up close as one is formed before your eyes, and take home your very own Catch- a-Comet™! Age 6-12 Price: $200 per session. Click age for registration.

Jedi Engineering using LEGO Materials  June 19 - June 23 9am - noon

The Force Awakens in this introductory engineering course for young Jedi! Explore engineering principles by designing and building projects such as LEGO® X-Wings, R2 Units, Energy Catapults, Defense Turrets, and Settlements from a galaxy far, far away. Create motorized and architectural projects with imagination and engineering to defeat the Empire! Age 6-12 Price: $200 per session Click age for registration. 3D Modeling and Printing: Minecraft Creations June 26 - June 30   9am - noon

3D printing and Minecraft both represent boundless opportunity for creating even our wildest of ideas! Explore the basic concepts of 3D printing and computer aided design, or CAD, to bring your most awesome Minecraft creation to life! Design your own 3D model in preparation for real 3D printing! At the end of the camp, you will walk away with your own models using a 3D printing pen, and your own Minecraft 3D model in a digital file that is ready for 3D printing! You can also continue to improve your design at home using the same TinkerCAD modeling software you learned at camp! Age 8-12 Price: $200 per session Click age for registration.

Minecraft Engineering using LEGO Materials
 July 10 - July 14 9am - noon

Bring Minecraft to life using tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as a motorized Creeper, a portal tothe Nether, and a moving Minecart! Create your favorite Minecraft objects with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. Whether you are new to Minecraft and LEGO or a seasoned veteran, you'll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities. Age 6-12 Price: $200 per session Click age for registration. 

Drone Exploration July 24 - July 28  9am - noon & 1pm - 4pm

Fly, Create, Innovate: The landscape is wide open and there is no better time then now to let your imagination run wild. This program will open the creative minds of participants as they learn all about some of the most fascinating drone solutions to date. Teams will first learn about some of the incredible problems drone technology has solved. Age 9-11 (AM Session) | 12-14 (PM Session) Price:$250 - Early(ends April 15th) Regular - $300 Click age for registration.

Drone Rescue July 31 - August 4 9am - noon & 1pm - 4pm

Search & Rescue: Participants learn to use drones and rely on their rescue team to utilize unique vantage points and combine a multitude of images over specific areas on campus to locate victims and safely rescue them to safety. We use age-appropriate and cutting-edge technology methods available for creating our maps. Age 9-11 (AM Session) | 12-14 (PM Session) Price:$250 - Early(ends April 15th) Regular - $300 Click age for registration.

Drone Building Camp August 7 -11  9am -4pm

Participants rely upon one another’s support to work together within a small-team setting to code and fly drones on autonomous missions and free-flight adventures. Teams will design obstacle courses and then learn to code the drone to fly, flip, pitch, yaw, and roll with the sole intent of landing on specific coordinates. Complete challenges and earn points, which are applied to the highly anticipated end-of-week event: The Ultimate Drobot Games. Age 9 -14 Price:$375 - Early(ends April 15th) Regular - $425 Click age for registration.  

Counselor-In-Training June 5 - August 18 7:30am - 5:30pm

Leadership Program: This program is designed to teach effective leadership skills that can be used throughout your life and how to effectively work with children. The objective of the Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is to provide 13 to 15 year olds with the opportunity to be developed into Starport Camp counselors with the ability to transition into a part-time seasonal position. CITs will be assigned to a specific group for the duration of a session, and through hands-on experience, will have the opportunity to interact with participants and counselors in the operation of the Starport Summer Camp. Age 13-15
