JOIN US ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2019 FOR OUR BATTLESHIP TEXAS TRIP!
Battleship Texas Sleep-aboard with the Explorer Guides and Princesses Club.
The Battleship Texas was the first of 2 New York-class battleships in the US Navy. Commissioned on March 1912, The Texas fired the first American shots in World War I as she protected the merchant vessel Magnolia for a German U-boat attack. During World War II the Texas was an indispensable piece of the Allied invasion at Omaha Beach and later in the Pacific during the Battles on Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
After a spending the last 70 years at it’s current location in the Houston Ship Channel, the Texas will be heading into dry dock at the end of 2019 for a year of much needed repairs and restoration. Upon the completion of the work she will be relocated to a TBD port along the Texas coast. The Explorer Guides and Princesses will be holding a sleep-aboard the battleship the evening of Sept 7 before she moves onto the next chapter of her story.
