Group Fitness Class Descriptions

Active Adults - Have fun and move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. A wide variety of equipment will be used to offer resistance (hand-held weights, elastic tubing, stability balls, etc.) as well as other techniques to strengthen the body such as balance, core strength, aerobic conditioning and stretching. This class is designed with you in mind, 50 years and older, to bring more quality of life to your daily responsibilities and allowing you time to focus on your own health and fitness.

 

Advanced Yoga - Sequence of movement patterns at a fast pace incorporating strength, balance, and mobility.  Advanced options include inversions, back-bends, balancing lifts and accelerated transitions. Benefits include improve joint stability, an increase in strength at greater range of motion, and enhance motor control.  Yoga mat is recommended. 

 

BALLEAN™ - Created by the class’s instructor, Alison Stellner, fitness expert and Orthopedic Exercise Specialist – BALLEAN™ is a total body functional fitness workout which includes strength, cardio, balance, targeted core work, muscle toning, and flexibility with a relaxation cool down all using the stability ball.

 

Beginner SPINNING® - Have you ever wanted to experience the immense health benefits of an indoor cycling class, but wanted to ease yourself into the basics? Then Beginner SPINNING® is the class for you! Get ready to learn about the foundational concepts such as an introduction to the bike, how to set yourself up on the bike, body positioning and riding techniques. Get ready to “buckle up” and enjoy your ride! FYI - The pedals for the SPINNING® bikes are SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) clip compatible.

 

Beginner Yoga - Get ready for a yoga class for beginners! Fundamental poses (asanas) are introduced and practiced with emphasize on the flow of breath, form and function. Yoga is user friendly, and can benefit everybody and every lifestyle. Yoga is a practice for a lifetime. Experience the joys of building a strong body, mind, and spirit through practicing yoga!

 

BODYPUMP® by Les Mills - This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises such as squats, presses, lifts, and curls. BODYPUMP® is versatile enough to challenge experienced gym goers, as well as being a safe, entry level class. Great music, awesome instructors, and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast!

 

Cardio Blast - A dynamic and energy-filled cardio/muscle training workout. You will cycle through cardio and strength intervals on the step and BOSU, incorporating hand weights, body bars, and other equipment that will work your body head to toe. This low-impact, high-intensity class will not only increase your strength and balance, it will transform your body. Top this off with a great ab workout, and you are good to go!

 

Core Strength Fusion - Core Strength Fusion is a body conditioning routine that may help build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' system allows for different exercises to be modified in a range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises.

 

Dance Jam - This cardio dance class will get your heart racing! A new routine is taught each month with fun dance moves set to the latest pop songs. The only rules in class are to keep moving and have fun - if you do those two things, the fitness benefits will come naturally! No prior dance experience is necessary, all levels of fitness are welcome and encouraged.

 

Dance With Me: Join Chrisanna in this format of dance where "no rules" apply! From Zumba®-style to line dancing, country to hip-hop, reggae to Disney®, pop to bluegrass, etc. - each song will keeping you craving the next! Experience perfect balance of songs on the right and left leads as well as options to modify and/or amplify in order for you to tailor your workout to how you’re feeling in the moment. So, get ready to let loose, feel wild and free, and dance yourself into glory! 

 

Hatha/Classical Yoga - Within this classical yoga style, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the postures and breathing techniques.  The body will recognize the difference between muscle contraction and calming muscle relaxation.  This yoga practice over time will help strengthen, tone and increase flexibility to the entire body.

 

H.I.I.T. - High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.) scopes your workout intensity into 30 minutes.  Classes will include: footwork drills, plyometrics (optional floor work with no jumping), and pull-up conditioning (assisted bands provided).  Goals include increased functional threshold for cardio output, power performance, and improve torso strength.    Your instructors will be screening your movement to adjust intensity as appropriate. Water and towel are recommended. 

 

H.I.I.T. Spin - High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.) comes to Spinning!  Classes will consist of repeated bouts of short period high-intensity activity followed by a short rest period.  Get ready to push your limits with this class! FYI - The pedals for the SPINNING® bikes are SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) clip compatible.

 

Kickboxing – Kickboxing is a high energy class that will improve your cardio endurance using moves inspired by a variety of martial art disciplines.  The music makes it fun and will have you pushing yourself to fight to the end!  All levels are welcomed! 

 

Kundalini Yoga - The purpose of regular Yoga classes is to help us move further into the "higher" levels of spiritual and body awareness that Kundalini brings to surface. Kundalini Yoga's principle is to connect the Mind and Body and in its process allow us to achieve a "higher" state of consciousness, so that we connect with our "spirit".  This opens our intuition, gives us mental clarity and helps us learn to manage stress in our lives through an understanding of ourselves.  In this class, we practice Pranayama (breathing exercises), Meditation and use Mudras (hand poses) and Mantras to help heal our bodies and spirit.

 

Long Ride - A 1 hour ride that will challenge your endurance, strength, and aerobic capacity.  This class is appropriate for all levels of students.  Bring your water and a towel and get ready to sweat! Muscle Jam - A total body conditioning class that promotes muscle strength, muscle endurance, bone density, and other aspects of improving your fitness levels.  Uses various equipment including barbells, dumbbells, body bars, steps, medicine balls, and the Bosu. You will work all of your muscle groups. This class welcomes all fitness levels.  Come join the fun!

 

Ride & Run - This cardio cross-training class will challenge your endurance and strength by combining indoor cycling and outdoor running.  Whether you are a triathlete looking for motivation for your next brick workout or looking for a fun new way to beat workout boredom, this class is sure to improve your cardiovascular abilities.  Bring a towel (or two) and water.  FYI - The pedals for the SPINNING® bikes are SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) clip compatible.

 

Roll With It - This unique class combines specialized movements to lengthen the muscles, stretching to improve flexibility, and foam roller techniques to relieve muscle tension and increase circulation.  This is the perfect workout if you are just starting out or returning to exercise, if you suffer from tight or fatigued muscles, or if you want to diversify your current workout program with focused flexibility exercises.

Pilates: Level II - Pilates Level II encompasses all of the foundations developed by founder Joseph Pilates. In this class, you will work through the traditional movements at a more elevated pace and more advanced options will be available. There will be minimal modifications and demos given to the students by the instructor since it is assumed that the student is aware of the exercise’s purpose. This class is intended to challenge and strengthen your body and mind. 

 

Power Yoga – This class will invigorate your body with a flowing yoga format incorporating challenging strength, power and balance poses performed in a continuous, fast moving series.  All fitness levels welcome!  Be prepared to SWEAT!

 

SPINNING® - Spinning® classes can be a great way to get in a good cardio workout, and keep your muscles in shape. Instructors guide participants through workout phases: warm-up, steady up-tempo cadences, sprints, climbs, cool-downs, etc. All you'll need is workout clothes, a towel (to wipe your face), and a water bottle. FYI - The pedals for the SPINNING® bikes are SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) clip compatible.

 

Spin Strong - A 30 minute ride in the Spinning "strength" energy zone followed by a series of body weight strength exercises performed off the bike. Class concludes with  a set of Pilates-based core work and stretching.

 

Strength and Stretch - This class will offer the basics of strength training and stretching of the major muscle groups. The workout will consist of weight training with the body bar, hand weights and bands.

 

Total Ball Boot Camp: This class takes the phrase "balls to the wall" to another level incorporating intense interval training moves focused on strengthening the CORE and MORE!!

 

Taekwondo - Improve your strength, speed, stamina, balance, and flexibility while learning effective methods of self-defense! This Olympic-style (World Taekwondo Federation) martial arts class combines kicking and punching techniques with stretching, calisthenics, aerobics, and occasional non-contact sparring drills to provide a great full-body workout. We invite participants of all skill levels and fitness levels. Beginners are always welcome!

 

Tai Chi - Experience the moving meditative martial art of Yang Style Tai Chi. Tai Chi is an internal form of Kung Fu that has both health benefits and fighting applications. By moving chi within the body, tai chi reduces stress and enhances health, spiritual well-being, cognitive functioning, and work productivity. Tai Chi improves balance, strengthens bone density, lowers blood pressure, reduces arthritis inflammation, and stabilizes blood sugar.  Tai Chi is a low impact workout perfect for all ages.

 

U-Jam Fitness® - is an athletic urban dance fitness workout that combines dance and high-energy music for a class that is bound to get your heart rate up, your body moving, and make you work up a sweat -- all while having FUN!  Professionally pre-choreographed songs and custom-mixed music of various genres target specific muscle groups with each move. U-JAM is more than a fitness class: it's an exhilarating experience that makes you forget you're working out, seeing students walk out of every class dripping in sweat and glowing with smiles. U-JAM has cultivated a social environment where students feel a sense of community and belonging. Besides making exercising fun, U-JAM believes that dance should be approachable and easy-to-follow, no matter what level you are! U-JAM strives to give our students a positive experience while in class. workout. U-Jam Fitness® is a program for all ages and fitness levels.

 

Yoga Blend – Yoga Blend is a combination of yoga and mind/body discipline to power, stretch, and relax the body and mind. A great class for all levels.

 

Yoga for Relaxation:  Begin to feel better with yoga. Drawing from traditional yogic teaching, this class is designed to help you feel your best. In addition to relaxation and stress management techniques, specific poses and sequences will be introduced to help soothe and balance the body. 

 

Yogalates - This innovative class is a unique blend of yoga and pilates combined to improve core strength, flexibility, posture, stability and coordination.

 

Zen Deep Stretch - Zen Deep Stretch is a therapeutic based exercise class designed to awaken the spirit and focus the mind to guide your body into a place of relaxation, strength and wellness. The instructor uses therapeutic movement and hands-on assisted stretches to help you experience tension release, improved flexibility, better joint mobility and enhanced postural alignment.

 

Zumba® is a unique dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system!  This class format combines fast and slow rhythms to maximize aerobic and toning benefits.  The cardio-based dance movements are easy-to-follow steps that target large muscle groups along with the most important muscle in the body – the heart.  It is designed for participants of any fitness level, background, or age.  It is also designed to be FUN!  Join the party, and let it move you!
