Benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy has been used for thousands of years to improve the overall health of the client. Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) to enhance the body’s healing and relaxation. Experts estimate that up to 90% of disease is related to stress. One of the many benefits of massage is stress reduction and relaxation.
Common causes of stiff and/or sore muscles: repetitive motion, over working or over stretching a muscle, inactivity, stress, bad posture (driving, sitting, sleeping) and injuries.
The benefits of massage include:
- Alleviate back pain.
- Pressure on affected areas help loosen muscles and triggers healing in that area.
- Releasing and relaxing muscles that surround the affected area can also help reduce pain and promote healing.
- Enhance the immune system by stimulating lymph flow which aids in eliminating toxins.
- Relax and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
- Help athletes prepare for, and recover from, extreme workouts.
- Improve the condition of the skin.
- Release certain chemicals causing the body to relax.
- Increase flexibility.
- Lessen depression and anxiety.
- Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
- Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues, improving circulation.
- Reduce post-surgery adhesions and swelling.
- Reduce spasms and cramping.
- Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
- Release endorphins?amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller.
- Relieve migraine pain.
- Indirectly aid healthy weight loss.

| Our staff of Therapists |
All of our therapists are knowledgeable professionals. They are registered through the state and are individually selected by Massage Solution for their skills and experience. They are among the best in their field and bring their own distinctive techniques to Starport. Jalaine Hunter, owner of Massage Solution, has been a full time massage therapist in this Clear Lake area for three years. She studied massage at the European Institute of Massage Therapy in Houston, Texas. She continues to bring passion, knowledge and experience to an otherwise fluff and buff massage world. If you don’t see a particular massage modality below that you prefer, Jalaine asks that you discuss this with her so that she might learn and make that modality available in the future. |

| Gilruth Massage Policy |
Appointments should be scheduled at least 24-hours in advance. Starport has the potential to schedule the appointment with less than 24-hours’ notice if therapists are available.
If you will be more than five minutes late for a scheduled appointment, we expect to be notified of your estimated time of arrival. If you will be more than fifteen minutes late or fail to show for a scheduled appointment, we have the right to cancel the appointment and charge you for the full session. At the therapist's discretion, the massage may proceed for the remaining amount of time scheduled and charged for the full session. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy and your respect of our therapists' time. |

*All clients will be draped during their massage sessions to ensure modesty and respect for the client as well as the therapist. Consult with the therapist in determining pressure and in working areas requiring greater attention.
Chair Massage Services
- Chair massage was developed to help ease the daily strain that many office workers feel. The office environment can lead to back pain, neck stiffness, tense shoulders, aching wrists, and the worst symptom of all which is bad circulation. Most of the aching symptoms that occur at work are caused by a loss of circulation which happens when people are sitting in a desk chair all day. This can lead to mental fogginess, decreased energy, and sore and stiff muscles, as well as more serious injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Chair massage increases the body’s circulation once again, restoring energy and helping to limit any office related repetitive-stress injuries. Since chair therapy is quick and can be easily brought to the office space, it is a very relaxing, much need break at work. It will improve your overall well-being by reducing stress, boosting your mental alertness and creativity.
- Contact the Gilruth Information Desk to schedule a massage therapist for a chair massage event.
