Employee Activities

Throughout the history of JSC, the Employee Activity Association (EAA) has served a valuable role in hosting employee events, assisting in recreational activities, offering tickets to community events and travel. As times have changed, the number of employee events as well as attendance at the events has significantly declined. Starport has also absorbed many of the functions previously provided by the EAA.

After careful consideration, the Exchange Council has decided to dissolve the Employee Activity Association and merge the remaining functions into Starport. The JSC Exchange Council, made up of senior leaders from NASA and the JSC Contractor community, has oversight of Starport and will be monitoring events and activities to validate that they are in the best interest of the entire JSC Team.

The efficiencies that are created with this merger will allow Starport to provide a wider variety of employee functions and utilize employee social funds to benefit more of the center population. Committees will be formed with rotating memberships to plan and conduct major employee events. A strong emphasis will be placed on employee feedback to ensure that Starport is meeting employee needs.

There will be no impact to the annual distribution of social funds to directorates. We will be asking each organization to identify their representative to interface with Starport to assist in dissemination of information on Starport events and programs. This will be an expansion of the current EAA representative role and will include Wellness and other Starport functions.

We appreciate the dedication and support from EAA volunteers over the years.

Thanks for your continued support.

Natalie Saiz, Chair
Starport / JSC Exchange Council
